Raise your hand if you believe that learning to swim happens in the water! Is your hand up? Of course it is. Whose wouldn’t be?

For kids, learning to swim happens mostly in the water. But for adults, learning to swim begins on land. If you’re an adult who doesn’t know how to swim and you’ve tried to learn, guess what? The dry-land part was missing! And it’s absolutely essential!

In the next 13 weeks, Learn To Swim Show host Melon Dash will explain, outline, and demonstrate a new way to learn and teach swimming. She will bring an end
-for anyone listening-to the yearning that millions of adults worldwide feel to know how to swim and the frustration they’ve experienced trying to learn the traditional way.

The solution is known. The way is clear. It’s been proven for 27 years. Now let the world understand and benefit!

Ask your questions. Test what you hear. Challenge Melon. Everyone wins.

Her book and DVD explain her teaching comprehensively.

How does it feel to be an adult who can’t swim? What is it like for instructors to have true beginners
in their adult classes? How can we connect the dots and make adult lessons work for students AND instructors?

On the November 11 show, we’ll briefly review the differences between the two schools of thought.

We’ll trace the path of the creation of Miracle Swimming and then offer some guesses as to why
the traditional swimming instructional agencies and instructors have not yet adopted Miracle Swimming.

First, we’ll finish one topic of November 4: what it’s like to be a parent who can’t swim.

Quickly we’ll summarize the philosophy of traditional lessons and that of Miracle Swimming lessons.

Then we’ll be joined by Nancy Van Landingham who was afraid in water for 65 years. She tried to learn to swim
on several occasions and ran into the same troubles each time. At 65, she learned to swim. She’ll describe her journey.

This past week on Oahu, Hawaii, four adult non-swimmers learned to swim and two swim school owners on Oahu became Miracle Swimming Instructors. What went down? What did we teach?

We have four very, very happy swim class graduates and two highly empowered graduates of our instructor training who can now succeed with any child and adult. How could people who have been teaching swimming as long as they have learn so much in one week?

There are a lot of inspiring stories in learn-to-swim. Take Richard’s. Richard was afraid in water his whole life. At the age of 50-ish, he decided he wanted to learn to swim. He had never taken formal lessons. He took Miracle Swimming as his first exposure to lessons. He then took advantage of our Open Swim practice sessions once a week for an hour during which he practiced staying comfortable all the time and experimented with how the water and his body worked together. He began to be a “spotter” in our classes, helping others learn. In a short time, a year or two, he had learned our system. Our long-term instructor moved. Richard stepped up to take over. Today, he’s a fabulous instructor I’m proud to call ours. He has the answers; and his students all love him. Join Richard and me on the December 16 Learn to Swim Show. He’ll tell you what he learned about himself and about learning to learn. Swimming is just the sidebar.

Today, we’ll continue talking about messages that help and messages that hinder students from learning to swim.

Email that has come in from students will provide good illustrations.
